Conference Form

  • Organisation of topical inter- and trans-disciplinary conferences with the aim to learn about, discuss, brainstorm concepts, ideas, research and practices that stem from participants’ contribution that is potentially diverse from other participants’ field of knowledge and expertise. The Rrosa Institute could be regarded as a kind of ‘incubator’ from which new scientific or topical ideas and links could see the day.
  • Personal invitation of approximately 30 persons. Duration of conference: typically, three days. Travel expenses and accommodation are generally covered by the participants.
  • Also, to allow to discover the local cultural richness, history, gastronomy, and nature, Sicilian specialists will be involved.

Residency Program

Globally, applicants need to spark the Rrosa Institute’s members' interest, need to demonstrate a rigour in their research methodology by linking theory and practice, need to be willing to enter an intellectual discourse and need to demonstrate an interest in Sicily (or more generally, in topics widely related to the past, present and future of the Mediterranean basin).

  • Applications are by invitation only.
  • Applicants may come from fields as outlined above, that is from the 'hard' and 'soft' sciences, philosophy, psychiatry, physics, art, mental health, medicine, architecture, anthropology, cultural studies, and social sciences.
  • A minimum age of 40 for applicants will generally be required.
  • Applicants' gender orientation, ethnic or cultural background, religious or other belief systems are irrelevant as long as there exists mutual acceptance and respect regarding persons' idiosyncratic distinctions.
  • Applicants’ selection will be in the hands of the three institute founders together with the members of the Rrosa Institute. The selection criteria will however mostly be defined by the founders.
  • The length of residency is of one month, during which time the founders will also be present.
